Optimization is not a daily hunt for buttons to press.

A useful plan diagnoses the largest commercial constraint, fixes it, measures the result, and then moves to the next constraint.

Before day 1

Collect:

  • Last 90 days of spend and conversions
  • CRM outcomes
  • Revenue and gross margin
  • Call data
  • Search terms
  • Creative results
  • Landing-page performance
  • Change history
  • Define:

  • Target CPA or ROAS
  • Qualified lead
  • Customer acquisition ceiling
  • Available capacity
  • Week 1: Measurement and economics

    Day 1: Business targets

    Calculate break-even and operating CPA.

    Day 2: Conversion audit

Test every form, call, purchase, value, and thank-you flow.

    Day 3: CRM reconciliation

Compare platform conversions with valid, qualified, and customer outcomes.

    Day 4: Attribution review

Check UTMs, click identifiers, duplicate events, and source persistence.

    Day 5: Baseline report

    Create one table:

    CampaignSpendQualified outcomesCustomersRevenueProfit

    Week 2: Remove obvious waste

  • Review search terms
  • Check locations
  • Review schedules
  • Check brand leakage
  • Audit PMax URLs
  • Resolve feed issues
  • Meta Ads

  • Classify junk leads
  • Review placement quality
  • Check audience exclusions
  • Remove inaccurate creative
  • Review form quality
  • Do not make broad cuts based on one bad day.

Week 3: Improve the customer journey

    Landing pages

  • Match ad promise
  • Clarify offer
  • Add proof
  • Improve mobile speed
  • Simplify action
  • State eligibility
  • Lead handling

  • Improve answer rate
  • Set response SLA
  • Add routing
  • Add follow-up sequence
  • Record lost reasons
  • Ecommerce

  • Review product-page clarity
  • Check shipping and returns
  • Audit checkout
  • Fix product-feed mismatches
  • Week 4: Run controlled growth tests

    Choose one:

  • New Meta creative concept
  • New Search ad and landing page
  • AI Max experiment
  • PMax asset test
  • New qualified conversion goal
  • New service or location
  • Define hypothesis, budget, duration, primary outcome, and stop rule.

    Daily routine

    Spend 10–15 minutes checking:

  • Tracking failures
  • Disapprovals
  • Budget anomalies
  • Broken pages
  • Lead routing
  • Material account changes
  • Do not optimize from daily volatility unless there is a real failure.

    Weekly routine

    Review:

  • Spend versus plan
  • Qualified CPA or profit
  • Search-term quality
  • Creative concept performance
  • Landing-page conversion
  • Sales follow-up
  • Capacity
  • Change log

    DateChangeHypothesisExpected resultReview date

    Never rely on memory.

    Prioritization model

    Score each opportunity from 1–5:

  • Expected commercial impact
  • Confidence
  • Ease
  • Time to learn
  • Fix high-impact measurement failures before minor creative formatting.

    What not to do

  • Change bids every day
  • Replace all creatives at once
  • Judge only raw CPA
  • Add negatives without query review
  • Increase budget while fulfillment is full
  • Accept every platform recommendation
  • Ignore conversion delay
  • 30-day deliverables

  • [ ] Economic targets documented
  • [ ] Conversion tracking tested
  • [ ] CRM outcomes reconciled
  • [ ] Waste categories removed
  • [ ] Landing-page priority fixed
  • [ ] Follow-up process improved
  • [ ] One controlled test launched
  • [ ] Change log current
  • [ ] Weekly scorecard running
  • [ ] Next 30-day priority selected
  • The result of a good month is not “more optimizations.” It is a clearer, more profitable decision system.
